The African Fathers Initiative is about two powerful and simple ideas – placing the wellbeing of the child at the centre and recognizing the important influence men have, or can have, in children’s lives. Throughout this document the word father is used inclusively to refer to father figures: that is all men who are important to a child, or who impact on their welfare.
This strategic plan provides an overview of the context in which AFI operates and some of its key achievements. After extensive consultation and deliberation, AFI has prioritised five programme areas, and developed specific objectives for each programme area.
